Elliot Axelband is the Associate Dean for Research Development at The USC School of Engineering, a Research Professor of Electrical Engineering, and the Executive Director of The Graduate Program in Systems Architecting and Engineering.

Concurrently he is a resident consultant at RAND, a not for profit corporation which houses four FFRDCs (Federally Funded Research and Development Centers), a member of the Board of Kollsman,Inc, a $15OM corporation with product lines in commercial avionics, medical products and defense electronics, a director of INCOSE (The International Council on Systems Engineering), and a director of the IEEE AESS (Aerospace and Electronics Systems Society). He is an INCOSE Fellow, an IEEE Fellow, and has been awarded: the IEEE Centennial Medal "...for extraordinary achievement", The IEEE Controls System Society Distinguished Service Award, and The Airforce Meritorious Civilian Service Medal.

Dr. Axelband received his BEE from the Cooper Union in 1958, MSEE from USC in 1960 and Ph.D. from UCLA in 1966 with a major in control systems and minors in computers and applied mathematics. He was employed by The Hughes Aircraft Company for 36 years where he was a Hughes Masters Fellow, a Hughes Doctoral Fellow, a Systems Engineer, a Division General Manger and a Vice President. He retired from Hughes in 1993 to join USC. He has over 25 professional publications.
