PLATFORMS: DDTs supports SoftBench on all HP platforms running HP-UX 8.0 and above. DDTs also supports SoftBench on all Sun platforms running SunOS 4.0 and above and Solaris 2.1 and above. For backwards compatibility, DDTs is linked with SoftBench Version A.02.01. DESCRIPTION: DDTs, the Distributed Defect Tracking System, is a bug tracking system designed for software or hardware project development, quality assurance, and customer support. It allows users to submit defects against products from anywhere world wide as long as an electronic mail link exists between systems. This allows large development programs to be distributed. DDTs improves the quality of products by encouraging users to submit bugs. Users are encouraged because DDTs is tightly integrated with electronic mail. Any time a change is made to the status of the bug report the submitter and others are automatically notified by mail of the change, which may be a resolution, a workaround or a date when the bug will be repaired. Bug submitters are always kept "in the loop". DDTs is extremely easy to use. In fact, the preface to the DDTs User's Manual says "DON'T READ THIS MANUAL". DDTs also features over twenty different types of management reports and metrics that allow a more global view of the quality of a product. DDTs is integratable with other CASE tools such as SCCS, and conforms to both the DOD-2167 and proposed IEEE P1044 standards defining requirements in bug tracking systems.
